Art Analysis

Image
This painting is called  Ellipse  and was made by Iris Scott in 2016 in Brooklyn New York, USA.    Why I Picked This Piece   I selected this one because this particular artist is one of my favorites, and this painting stood out to me because I liked the colors. It was a close call between this one and one done in mostly oranges depicting a deer in the woods, but the contrast of this one with the usage of complimentary colors appealed to me more.      The Things I Like About it One thing I like about this artist's works and the works of others like it is the use of non-realistic colors. I believe the term for this sort of style is impressionist art. The way colors that do not appear in the actual subject(s) depicted are used to further the depth and visual interest is fascinating to me. The contrast of colors makes it very interesting to the eyes as well. In the top left, there are fish that are brightly colored orange and red set against the deep blue and purple tones of the water
